WhatIs TheEffectOf CrossingLegsOn BloodPressureMeasurement?

Bloodpressureis a variable usedto measureamong otherdiseaseshypertension. Accuratemeasurementis importantin determiningtheimpacton thebodywell-being.Manyfactorsdeterminethebloodpressureincludingthemedication,bodyposition,emotionsandalsoclothing.Itis bitterto understandthefactorsthat thatdeterminethelevel of bloodpressurein orderto containan optimumlevel that is worthforthebody.Bloodpressurein our bodiesis controlledby theautonomic nervoussystem.Therateof heartbeat, thementalandphysicalactivityandstateof thebodyexhibitdifferentlevels of bloodpressure.Whilesleeping, thestandardof bloodpressureis differentfrom thatof peopleduring rigorousactivitiesanddropby approximately15%. Thepresenceof hypertensive conditionsalsovariesthebloodpressureof a personbody. In thecasean individualis under anti-hypertension medication, thedecisionto determinethetypeof drugliesin justa singlemeasurementof bloodpressure, hence, theneedforaccuracyin determiningthatlevel.

Theeffectsof crossinga personlegson bloodpressurewasmeasuredanddeterminedusinga surveyconductedof 100 menagedbetween theageof 31-81 yearsoldthat werehypertensive andwereunder themedicationof thesame.Thestudywasconductedin a controlledenvironmentfreefrom stressfrom thenoiseandin a comfortableenvironment.Thesepeoplewereto be measuredthebloodpressurewhilethelegswereflatandwhentheywerecrossedjustabove theknees.However,16 subjectsforthesestudieswereeliminatedbecausetheyhadfailedto takemedicationon thatparticularday, andthustheir resultsshoweda greatervariability. 84 remainedandwerethenusedto performandcomeup with theconclusionof thepurposeof thestudies.Themeasurementwasconductedby two nurses, andtheanalysistookplaceafter an intervalof three minutesafter crossingof legswasdone.

Thefindingof theresultsis thaton crossingthelegs, both thesystolic anddiastolic bloodpressureincreasedwith notablyrage.Theeffectsof conductingbloodpressuremeasuringactivitywhilecrossingyour legsare thatthere is a tendencytoartificially raisethelevel of bloodpressure.Aclinical requirementof performingthesemeasurementsis thata person`sfeetshould be flat, andtheforelimbs are restingon a flatsurfaceduring thebackof thechairthesubjectis sittingon to be flat.Since itis undoubtedlytruethatmanyvariableaffect accuratemeasurementof bloodpressure, crossinglegsis one of them. Thus, crossingof legsduring suchsurveymay unnecessarilyresultin higherbloodpressurethatitis. Theaccuracyof bloodpressureis, as earlierstated, importantin makingdecisionsregardingthekindof medicationandhealthspecificationforpeoplewith hypertension. Theimportanceof knowingtheeffectof crossinglegsduring bloodpressuremeasurementhelpsin ensuringthatthefiguresfoundareaccurateandconcreteforthestudy.
