Grantingamnesty

Whetherillegal immigrants should be granted amnesty has been a question fordiscussion for so many years especially in America. Some people arguethat granting amnesty to illegal immigrants’ will be highly costlyFor America. On the other hand, Thornburg (2007), argue that such amove will have both positive and negative impacts and since thepositive impacts outweigh the negative impacts, the country shouldthink of implementing policies, which make it possible for illegalimmigrants to become American citizens. In this regards, thediscourse provides an evaluation that refutes the granting of amnestyto illegal immigrants. This is because by doing so, a countryoverburdens its taxpayers since illegal immigrants add more costs toa nation.

Therehave been so many laws written in response to illegal immigrants. Ibelieve that no matter how many new laws are written n regard withthis matter, as long as there is corruption among governmentofficials, illegal immigration will never end. In terms of illegalimmigration, I think that every part of the country is prone toillegal immigration and not only the border states as the latestreports show that Mexican immigrants in America are now mainly foundin interior parts of the nation, practicing Agricultural activities. The originating country of immigrants or the number of immigrantsfrom a particular country is important to lawmakers since it helps infinding out the causes of such a trend and implementing strategies toclose all the loopholes enabling such a trend (Krikorian, 2004Krikorian). Since time in history, America has had mixed feelings onthe issue of immigration since there are people who believe thatgranting amnesty to illegal immigrants is beneficial to the nationwhile other think that such a move would be attrition for thenation’s development.
