There are severalrisksin thehealthcareprovisionservicesincludingtherisksof themethodologies of careandrisksin treatmentprocesses.Otherrisksin thehealthcareservicesmay accruefrom theimplementedIT infrastructure,andtheserisks,singlyorcombined,may leadto reducedefficienciesin thehealthcare provisionservice.Inefficienciesin thehealthcare provisionservicesmay havecatastrophic consequencessuchas death.Appropriateauthoritiesshould implementsuitableriskassessmentproceduresto enhanceabilitiesto mitigateaccruingrisks(Vose, 2008).

TheFacilitated Risk Analysis Process (FRAP), is theaptestmethodof analyzingthehealthrelatedrisks.FRAP analyzesa segment,systemorapplicationof variousproceduresandprocessesat a time(Vose, 2008). Its applicationis edged on theassumptionthatadoptinga precisequantified riskassessmentprocessis time-consuming, perceptibleto lossesandtoovoluminousforpracticaluse.TheFRAP processidentifiesandcategorizesvariousrisksidentifiedin thesystem,providingtheappropriatemitigationmeasures.Theprocessusessoftware programs,to determinethecostsof themitigationprocess.Accordingto FRAP, thecostof mitigationoverwhelmsoccurrenceof theriskiftheprobablelossis relativelylessthan thecostthat would beincurredwhileimplementingmitigationmeasures(Vose, 2008).

Informationtechnology (IT) providesan aptavenueforimprovingthequalityof careprovisionservicesin health.EffectiveIT infrastructureeasestheprocessof careprovision,furtherpromotinga smoother transitionof caregivers. Despite theseadvantages,IT infrastructuresare facedwith variousrisks,which threatentheir usefulnessin increasingthequalityof careofferedin healthfacilities.Theserisksmay be physical,structuralsuchas involvingsoftware ormanagerial. Others includevulnerabilities, which includetheinherentweaknessesof theseinfrastructuresthat may be exploitedusingmaliciousthreats,suchas viruses(Vose, 2008).

Amongthephysicalrisksthat faceIT in thehealth,sectorincludesdamageto theestablishedinfrastructuresby naturalormanmade calamities,suchas floods,lightning,andfires.Occurrenceof thesecalamitiesis disastrousto establishedIT infrastructuresin thehealthsector,includingtotaldestructionof theinfrastructures(Vose, 2008). Additionally, theestablishedIT infrastructurescan be stolen,leadingto physicalparalysisof theestablishedIT infrastructures.Physicaldestructionof IT storagesystems,suchas thedestructionof theharddisk,may destroythecontent storedin thesystem.Otherphysicalrisksthat are likelyto paralyzetheIT infrastructureincludevandalism,which destroystheorganization,andconnectivity of theinfrastructure.Erroneoushandlingof thesystem,suchas inappropriateshutting down of thesystemmay alsodamagethecontent storedin theIT infrastructure.Singlyorcombined,thesephysicalrisksare hazardousandleadto inefficienciesin thesystem.ReducedIT inefficienciesreducethequalityof careprovided,intricate thecaretransitionprocesses,loweringthequalityof carein healthfacilities(Vose, 2008). ). Assuch,appropriateriskassessmentmeasuresneedto be implementedto averttheoccurrenceof theseriskspromotingprovision of qualitymedical services thehealthsector.
