AnElectronic Performance Support System refers to a system thatprovides assistance to the user when he is in need. It provideselectronic guidance such as reference information, tutorials andlinks on how to perform a particular task efficiently (Stevens,2011).The information is provided immediately in the form of sound,picture, text and video among others. In addition, it is easilyaccessible by the employees in the organization and there is notexpertise required to operate it. Electronic Performance SupportSystems are beneficial to a training program. They enable employeesto perform a given task better because it provides the necessaryinformation and procedure for workers to follow. The system alsoequips workers with the required skills thus improving the workplaceperformance (Stevens,2011).

Theinternet is a tool for communication whereby it allows one to sendand receive communication instantly. One of the types of EPSS that Ihave used is online learning. It is a form of training whereby aperson receives instructions through the internet. The system allowsinformation to be shared and updated using electronic networks (Noe,2010).Online training is considered an efficient method for trainingbecause learners get information from the internet. It includesWeb-based training that is a type of learning provided on computernetwork and exhibited by a web browser. The programs are installed incompany computers and only accessible by employees only.


Mostpeople wonder why training is evaluated and they do not find anyreasons for doing so. However, there are numerous benefits forevaluating training. The first benefit is that training evaluationshelps one to identify better ways of improving the training (Stevens,2011).It means managers who gather information and feedbacks on thetraining provided are in a better position to improving the training(Noe,2010).Training evaluation helps the decision makers to gather data thatforms the base of their decisions for change. The other benefit isthat it helps the organization to determine whether the training isaligned with the organization`s goals. Evaluating training assuresthe company 100% that it is training the right thing (Stevens,2011).It could also help save company fund because training on systems thatare not applicable to the organization is waste of time andresources.

Thereare numerous types of evaluations that rely on the objectiveevaluated. Formative evaluation aims at improving personal teaching.The instructor is equipped with the knowledge that he then uses toeducate the class (Bloomet al., 2010).Examples of formative assessment include early course evaluations,asking questions and writing assignments. Summative evaluation isdone at the end of a course. The aim of this assessment is to measurethe level of success that is achieved at the end of a particular unit(Noe,2010).The examples of summative assessment include grades assigned to endsemester exams and college faculty unit evaluations (Bloom et al.,2010). Summative evaluation is the best assessment method andconsidered to have a high point value because it compares thestudent`s performance against some set standards.
